Holiday Home Tour : Creating a Colorful Christmas-Part 2
Welcome to our 2nd Christmas home tour of 2017! If you saw last week's tour, where I featured our "formal" living room and dining room, then you are fully aware that this year is the year of color and whimsy! (If you missed the first part of the tour, no worries, you can click here to check it out). Before we go any further, I must express my gratitude to the host of this blog hop, Saher, from House Haus Home- without her, our house may only have been half decorated!
After having some more time to reflect on why we chose to decorate the way we did, I am totally convinced that the fun we have as a family has A LOT to do with it! That, and the fact that we've watched Trolls Holiday on repeat since Thanksgiving day. How could we not be influenced by the magical, glitter filled, rainbow world of Princess Poppy and her friends!? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you MUST head to Netflix and check it out- it's not just for kids- in fact, I find myself singing along very willingly and almost anticipating the request to "play it again mom!"
That said, I decided not to go overboard with any of my designs. and actually kept things pretty simple as far as the type and amount of decorations that I displayed. But, the colors and patterns are nothing but fun, fun, fun!
I'll start of by giving you guys a look at our sunroom. This space is just off of the kitchen and dining room and looks into our backyard- it's also the only room with a full size Christmas tree this year (we are cutting back!)...
I can't ever be too fussy about the tree because my son is intent on making sure it looks different every. single. day.
Glitter garland, gold bells and a bowl of shatter proof colorful ornaments are simple festive touches, that can also be touched by a toddler : )
This room also happens to be where the bar is located- it gets some decent traffic (wink- wink), so it deserved some holiday love too!
Onto our family room at the other end of our house...
This space was recently remodeled for the One Room Challenge so it was already decorated with our favorite colors and patterns. I added texture with the faux fur throw and white felt wreaths, and a dash of whimsy and sparkle with the gold tinsel trees (these are practically indestructible and seriously affordable- perfect for anyone with little kids).
Not only is it kid-friendly, but dog friendly too! Hi Brodie, my love!
On the other side of the room, my favorite framed animal photos hang and I couln't leave them out of the festivities ! Each one got dressed up for Christmas with a bright red bow.
And finally, another touch of glitter garland, a disco ball, and a few oversized ornaments tops it off...
And even though this final picture is from last week's holiday home tour, I want to throw it in here as a reminder not to take things too seriously- the holidays should be about love and laughter after all...
I'll catch you all in 2018!
Love and Creativity,
