Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I document projects involving home renovation, staging and design.

ORC: Family Room Week 6- Color Combos

We have partnered with Raymour & Flanigan and received product for the One Room Challenge. All expressed opinions are 100% my own.

After last week's demands, I have to admit that I was a tad nervous about actually finishing the family room makeover for the One Room Challenge. But guess what...it's all finally coming together, and with the usual pops of color that my designs typically include-yay!

First, I finished up the painting of the built-ins-WooHoo! and since we kept the original paneling (I adore paneling- that's right you heard it here first, paneling is awesome!!!), it was important to paint inside the lines/indentations with a brush before going over the walls with the roller.  I'm love, love, loving the Benjamin Moore River Blue color that was inspired by my friend Nicole (she has the most fabulous shop on Chairish called House of Michel- if your'e into mid century modern or anything quirky yet glamorous, you have to check her out!). And next week, you'll see one more pop of that color elsewhere in the room...

Next, we finally moved all of the old furniture out and began to bring in the new pieces from Raymour and Flanigan and the other items that I've been collecting and storing in our garage over the past couple of months. With these now in, I was able to do my favorite thing of all- accessorize!! (this is the time to imagine me rolling around on skates doing the studio 54 bell bottom boogie- "do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight, get down tonight"- anyone?) Of course the accessories involve pops of color and lots of different textures.

Lastly, we mounted the t.v, worked on some behind the scenes electrical projects, hung the coat racks, built and painted an entry table, re-framed and hung the gallery wall, tiled the top of the built-in cabinet, added some moulding, and wrapped the pendant light cords that are hanging from our vaulted ceiling in a gold metal, but... I'm not going to show any of that until next week for the final reveal.

I will, however, leave you with a couple pictures of some favorite moments that are currently happening in the space- Man I cannot wait for a movie night! Maybe we'll even host Super Bowl Sunday?
