Back to Black: Modern Lux Trim & Moulding
My husband and I have always been drawn to the color black- we've stained kitchen cabinets black, painted furniture black, and have chosen this color for countertops, light fixtures, and hardware. So it's no surprise that just a few months after moving into our new residence, we got the itch to go back to black. This time, we wanted to do something that we hadn't attempted yet, but that had been on our minds for a long time- after all where better to experiment than in your own home- am I right!? We've both loved the idea of black trim- doorways, moulding, window mullions and frames- and the internet definitely doesn't help an obsession! Here are the images that we kept going back to...
As you can see, black trim is classic, glam, rich, and modern all at once! And for this reason, it was easy for us to take the plunge. Last week I picked up a paint brush and never looked back, and after seeing the immediate results, we couldn't be more thrilled. The new look has even re-lit the fire in us to keep moving forward with the remodel and make more creative choices with decorating. (Sometimes you need a cheerleader in this process because it can become daunting, and for us, that cheerleader was black paint-who knew! )
With such a major impact on the home design, we cannot wait to continue the process throughout. And now that I'm done writing this post, I'm going to get back to painting, because with only 8 more doorways, and about a hundred windows to go, I'll be done by 2018! : )
