Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I document projects involving home renovation, staging and design.

Newest Project: Our Connecticut Home

Newest Project: Our Connecticut Home

To say this process was a nightmare is not giving enough credit to the real estate horrors that took place. After almost a year of searching throughout the area of beautiful Fairfield, Conecticut, we found a home that checked all of our boxes and then some: family friendly, huge yard for our 2 dogs, in-ground pool, many "large" rooms (relative to those found in Manhattan!), a private setting close to the train and town, and most importantly- lots and lots of projects... Then came the negotiations and an accepted offer. Seemed like a usual transaction, until we had our inspection, which led to an estimate from an engineer. Still, nothing out of the ordinary except that we needed to discuss the previous price with the owners, and they gladly accepted our new requests. Now the fun part! It turns out that the previous owner had taken a reverse mortgage out on the property and owed more to the bank than any of us had realized... turning this entire deal into a (insert terrifying music) SHORT SALE!!! Months passed, the original closing date came and went, emails that were never returned were sent, periods of agonizing waiting took place until today, when we FINALLY got word that everything has been approved (in writing) and we will be closing very, very soon!!

In celebration, I'd like to share some photos of our new home and next project: Lakeside Drive...
