Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I document projects involving home renovation, staging and design.

Incorporate High End Design on a Budget

Incorporate High End Design on a Budget

If you are like me, you probably scour countless magazines every month, get inundated with emails from awe inducing sites like 1st Dibs and One Kings Lane every day, and follow inspiring designers on Instagram every minute. With all of this talent and visual genius steadily streaming into my orbit, how could I not want to try out new ideas in my own space? The dilemma is that a lot of this design can be expensive. So, in order to give myself the satisfaction of using a standout concept, I consider my budget and try to envision how we can get a similar look in our home. Sometimes this means trying the design on a smaller scale. For instance, I have recently become re-OBSESSED with leopard print, and I'm especially attracted to furniture upholstered in a leopard print fabric. In my mind, the rich velvety pattern radiates luxury with whimsy. Yet, as much as I would love to find the perfect mid-century sofa and reupholster it in my dream textile, we simply cannot afford to do it. For that reason I turned to leopard pillows instead. This purchase has allowed me to integrate the design into many areas of my home, making it possible to create not just one, but several smile-producing vignettes : )
